Plant the Seeds of Good Change pt. 7

Meet: Ryan P, Loves Mushrooms and the Outdoors

Core Volunteer Series

May we present Ryan, a mushroom and outdoor-enthusiast! For week 7 of @Mborogarden's Core Vol series, Ryan brings his own quiet intensity to the garden. Time to highlight another fantastic member of our community garden.

When we set off to our respective garden tasks, Ryan goes for the constructive and tasks requiring strength. Yet he also possesses the ability to be gentle, propagating plants being a skill in his toolkit. So glad he joined us a couple years ago.

We went running together one morning on the greenway, bright and early per his preference. I thought I could run well, but he kept up his intensity with endurance. Definitely gave him a run for his money, though. Haha! Check out our discussion below:

Q: How did you come about the garden?

A: The Volunteer Rutherford website. It has a lot of great volunteering opportunities in the area.

Q: Why volunteer with us given the choice?

A: I wanted to learn more about sustainable living and wanted to help make a difference in the community. I also wanted to eat lots of great organically grown produce as well, ha.

Q: What do you love most about it?

A: I enjoy being outdoors and working hard. There are so many different things I enjoy about gardening. It's something I plan on doing the rest of my life.

Q: Any experience or skills?

A: I have a lot of experience both successful and not at raised bed gardening at home. I also have a lot of interest in Mycology and am excited to see how our mushroom bed does this year.

Q: Final thoughts?

A: Murfreesboro Community Gardening is a wonderful organization that I'm so happy to be a part of. I can't wait to see all the great things we do in the future!
